"How can I make money on the internet?"
This is by far the most frequently asked question on Yahoo Answers and other online forums. While there are many scams online, there are also many people who make a serious living from doing business on the internet.
Ideas for anyone who has a website:
#1 By placing an advertisement on your website, you can get paid everytime a visitor clicks on the ad. Google's program is by far the best. When you place a piece of code on your page, it reads the content of the page to determine the most relevant ads to show.

Ideas for anyone who does not have a website:
#1 Consider starting a website. To register your own domain name, (Example: www.website.com) just go to Webhero and use their tool to come up with a web address that you like and is not already taken. Your next question... "What should I make a website about?" Well, what do you like to talk about? What do you have a good understanding of? If you like to cook, create a cooking website. The idea is to make a site where visitors want to come back regularly.
#2 People talk about getting paid to take surveys or read emails. The only program that I have found that is truthful is MyPoints - Earn Rewards at MyPoints.
You sign up for a free account and they reward you for getting advertising emails and clicking a link in the email. They will sometimes send surveys that you get rewards for also. There is no cost to sign up and I have received gift cards from using their services.
Things that do not work.
General piece of advice - do not pay anyone to give you the "opportunity" to take surveys, read email or surf the web. There are many scams out there that will pay you 3 cents for every email that you read and click a link. Or 20 cents to take a survey, but you have to pay them to setup an account.
Additional Notes:
Once you have a website up and running, its important to grow traffic to it. Make sure that you have a basic understanding of Meta-tags and SEO.
